Born to a Norse Viking raider and Saxon mother in Jorvik where his brother continues to trade.

Skarde moved to Legacaestir (Chester) to procure salt for the families business. That salt being sent on to an uncle in Denmark in return for furs and other wares to be sold here.

He usually trades from a stall in lower bridge street where he houses his family.
